History...

The school was originally a high school, built in 1936 on farmland owned by John Wright. In 1954 the school became an elementary school and with growing enrollments the school was expanded in 1966 and 1977.

Wrightsville Elementary School is now a national model for other districts that care about the environment and the health of students and staff. Following a United States Green Building Council outline, Wrightsville Elementary became only the second school in the state and ninth in the nation to gain Leadership in Energy and Environmental design registration. Project highlights are: passive solar strategies with building orientation along an east-west corridor that provides natural light throughout classrooms, reduction in electricity use, roofing materials that reduce heat transferrence during hot days, exterior lighting design that reduces light pollution on site, water consumption reduction of 34 percent, highly efficient heating and air-conditioning, carbon dioxide sensors, high performance triple-glazed windows, an annual energy consumption cost reduction of over 30 percent, recycled building materials, air quality monitoring, and an overall efficient spacial design.

The school is featured as a case study in a video commissioned by the Governor's Green Government Council.

EASTERN YORK HOOPS CAMP
The Eastern York Hoops Camp will be held from JUNE 22-26 at the Eastern York High School. Any girl entering grades 3-6, camp will run from 8:00am-11:30am (Monday-Thursday) and 8:00am-12:00pm (Friday). Any girl entering grades 7-12, camp will run from 12:30pm-3:30pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8:00am-12:00pm (Friday). Cost : $50.00 per camper Registration forms may be picked up at either the MS or HS, or by calling, Amy Scerbo @ 586-4630

How to find us...

Coming east or west on Rt. 30, get off at the Wrightsville exit. At the stop sign, east bound turn right, west bound turn left onto Cool Springs Road. Go to the signal light at Rt. 462, turn left. Go approximately 6 blocks to Third Street, turn right to the school.
