Renaissance Membership Criteria, Incentives, and Privileges

2000/2001

The Renaissance Program is a nationwide program designed to motivate and encourage students and teachers by recognizing academic excellence. It encourages a partnership between teachers, parents, administrators, and businesses. It brings together the ideas of all these people to help students appreciate and understand the joys of learning. Renaissance is not merely a program: it is a dynamic process that continually modifies itself to meet the needs of our school.
 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Homework Habits - Students must complete homework assignments on a regular basis and exhibit responsibility for the organization of such assignments.
Academic achievement - Students must demonstrate average or above average performance and/or have shown academic growth.
Attendance - Students have an acceptable attendance record within the boundaries of their control.
Effort - Students consistently demonstrate a dedicated work ethic and put forth constant effort to participate in their learning and improve their academic experience.
Responsibility - Students act in a responsible manner on school grounds and within the community.
Citizenship - Students demonstrate the qualities of citizenship within their daily life such as, respect for self, others, and property and care/concern for the school and home community.
*** PERSONAL GOAL - Student and teacher will determine and set an individual goal for each marking period which must be fulfilled.

INCENTIVES & PRIVILEGES

GOLD CARD - Students must meet 6 out of 6 criteria qualifications and meet their personal goal.
* 1 late homework exemption
* 1 access to special privilege eating area
* Discounts on various School Store items
* 1 extra recess on specified day
* 1 special activity period with Principal
* 2 passes to sit wherever student would like at lunch within their grade level

BLUE CARD - Students must meet 5 out of 6 criteria qualifications (Academic Achievement must be one of the 5 criteria met) and meet their personal goal.
* Discounts on various School Store items
* 1 extra recess on specified day
* 1 pass to sit wherever student would like at lunch within their grade level

WHITE CARD - Students must meet 4 out of 6 criteria qualifications and meet their personal goal.
* Discounts on various School Store items
* 1 pass to sit wherever student would like at lunch within their grade level

ADDITIONAL INCENTIVES
* Promotional items and other outside incentives are open to Renaissance members only.

NOTE:
* Students will be evaluated each marking period
* Eligibility requirements and or incentives may be subject to change
* Any abuse of membership rights and privileges may be grounds for loss of the same
