EASTERN YORK DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS

The Eastern York Dollars for Scholars Program exists for the purpose of expanding access to higher education for resident students. Keeping that purpose in mind, specific student eligibility requirements and criteria for awarding of the scholarships have been established and are listed below.

Read the information carefully and then complete the attached scholarship form. Completed scholarship forms must be returned to the high school guidance office by the deadline date listed below. Award recipients will be announced at the Eastern York Dollars for Scholars Awards Reception.

No Late Applications Will Be Accepted and the Due Date Will Not Be Extended

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY AND SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

- The scholarship recipient must be planning to attend a post-secondary program at an accredited institution

- The scholarship must be awarded to an EYHS senior who will be graduating during the year in which the application is completed

- By midsummer following graduation the scholarship money will be sent to the financial aid office of the post-secondary school that you will be attending. The check will be made co-payable to you and the post-secondary school.

- The scholarship must be utilized within two years of the student’ s graduation date.

- The number of scholarships awarded each year will be based on available funds and will be distributed to 4-year college attendees, 2-year college attendees, and technical school program attendees

CRITERIA USED IN SCHOLARSHIP DETERMINATION

25% - academic achievement

20% - school activities

20% - community activities

15% - teacher recommendations

10% - academic improvement

10% - attendance
