How Can Parents Be Involved?

  • Communicate frequently with your child’s teacher(s).
  • Attend school activities such as parent-teacher conferences.
  • Help your child with homework assignments.
  • Praise your child for any  progress or improvement.
  • Share with your child’s teacher what works well at home.
  • Always ask questions when things are not clear!

 

Questions to Ask

  • What types of programs are used in my child’s classroom?
  • Is my child successful? If not, what additional instruction/interventions will my child receive?
  • How will additional assistance be provided? By whom? How often? How long?
  • What will the school do if my child is not improving?
  • What can I do to help my child?
