Get to Know Your Counselors

Mrs. Teri Ward (A-K)

Hello! My name is Teri Ward, and I am the middle school Guidance Counselor for last names beginning with the letters A-K. I have lived in York County for the past several years.  I earned my B.A. in Social Work from Shippensburg University and my M.Ed. in Counseling Education at Millersville University. I worked for several social service agencies until coming to Eastern York Middle School in 1999. I started at the middle school as a Guidance Counselor for a little over a year and then moved to the high school as a Career Counselor for 11 years. I have now returned to the middle school beginning this 2012/2013 school year.

I have four children. My oldest sons, Anthony and Austin, are a sophomore and freshman at the main campus of PSU. Another son, Evan is a freshman in high school. My daughter Emma is in 6th grade.

I am extremely excited to be at Eastern York Middle School! I am sure that each year will be full of wonderful events and opportunities for all of us! Please feel free to stop in to say “Hello!"

Mrs. Ann Merced (L-Z)

My name is Ann Merced and I am excited to be part of the team at Eastern York Middle School. I work with students whose last names begin with L-Z. For eleven years, I worked for the Lancaster County Children and Youth Agency. However, since 2009, I have been working at Eastern York Middle School as a school counselor. I have three daughters that attend the Hempfield School District in Lancaster County. My oldest daughter is a senior in high school and my second daughter is in 7th grade, so I have experienced the drama and mood swings of middle school students for the past several years at home.

I earned my undergraduate degree in social work in 1998 from Millersville University. Several years ago, I decided that I wanted to work in an educational setting to assist students in reaching their highest potentials. In December 2008, I completed my master’s in education and in May 2009 I completed my certification to be a school counselor.

I look forwarded to working with everyone at Eastern York Middle School this year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with concerns or questions. Although there has been a lot of change in the counseling office throughout the past several years, I am confident that we can more forward and build a strong collaborative work environment.
